Doctors of Mets catcher and Baseball Hall of Famer Gary Carter are deciding whether or not to give him more cancer treatment after several new tumors were found on his brain. The situation appears to be very grave. I hope the Mets push cancer research throughout the 2012 season with fans in New York and everyone visiting Citi Field. They can help make a huge community impact.

My all-time favorite player is dying of brain cancer. If you have room in your thoughts for someone, the Kid is certainly someone who deserves them.

Some of my favorite baseball stories are the ones my uncle tells me of him working with youngsters.  1974 in Montreal there was a kid named Gary Carter, then 20-years old and cracking into the big league.  Gene Mauch, the manager of the Expos told my Uncle Norm, “I need you to make this kid an everyday major league catcher.”

You did well, Uncle Norm.  Sending positive vibes the Kid’s way.
